Cherryl Premdass, MD


A hospitalist is a provider who specializes in caring for patients while they are in the hospital. Hospitalists work closely with your primary care provider and frequently inform him or her of your condition.

When you require hospitalization, your provider or an Emergency Department physician will coordinate your admission with a hospitalist. The hospitalists are on site 24 hours a day and work closely with all hospital staff to coordinate your care.

Cherryl Premdass, MD is part of our Health First hospitalist team. She earned her Doctor of Medicine from Ross University School of Medicine in Edison, NJ and Dominica, West Indies. She earned her Master of Science in Biology and Environmental Immunotoxicology from New York University School of Arts & Sciences in New York, NY. She also earned her BA in Anthropology/Biology from Hamilton College in Clinton, NY.

Dr. Premdass served her surgical residency at Stamford Hospital - Surgery Department in Stamford, CT and completed her family medicine residency at Grant Medical Center in Columbus, OH. She also served as a Hospital Medicine Fellow at Grant Medical Center in the Hospital Medicine Department.

Dr. Premdass worked as a staff hospitalist with Tuomey Medical Center in Sumter, SC diagnosing and treating adult patients and managing an open ICU. She also served as the Director of Breast Cancer & Tobacco Control for the American Cancer Society in Harlem, NY and as a Clinical Cessation Assistant with Memorial Sloan-Kettering Cancer Center in New York, NY. Additionally, she has spent time in her career working as a Science Staff Developer for the New York City Board of Education providing science education training to the staff of Community District 4 developing curriculum and assessment tools for staff and science and literacy activities for parents.

She is a member of the American Academy of Family Physicians and the Society of Hospital Medicine and is experienced in providing medical research, trainings and presentations.
