Jennifer Odom, PAC
A hospitalist is a provider who specializes in caring for patients while they are in the hospital. Hospitalists work closely with your primary care provider and frequently inform him or her of your condition.
When you require hospitalization, your provider or an Emergency Department physician will coordinate your admission with a hospitalist. The hospitalists are on site 24 hours a day and work closely with all hospital staff to coordinate your care.
Jennifer J. Odom, PA is part of our Health First hospitalist team. She earned her Bachelor of Science degree in Food Science and Human Nutrition with an emphasis in Nutritional Sciences from the University of Florida. She holds a minor in Business Administration. In 2012 she earned her Master of Physician Assistant Studies certificate from the University of Florida.
Jennifer received a range of medical training through her clinical training rotations. She participated in STD and HIV/AIDS clinics, including visits to Alachua County Jails with the Alachua County Health Department in Gainesville. She examined and evaluated pediatric patients at Arnold Palmer Hospital for Children in Orlando, and followed patients on hospitalist service, presenting assessments and plans to attending physicians at the Malcom Randall VA Medical Center in Gainesville.
She received OR training for general GI surgeries with the North Okaloosa Medical Center in Crestview, FL; followed psychiatric patients at Shands Vista Behavioral Health in Gainesville; obtained Intensive Care training in the Trauma and Surgical ICUs at Shands/University of Florida; participated in cardiology training with a focus on CAD, heart failure and cardiomyopathies at Shands/University of Florida/Cardiology West Office; received OB/GYN training at Winnie Palmer Hospital for Women and Babies; obtained Emergency Medicine training, performing CPR and actively participating in code alerts, as well as Medical ICU training at Shands/University of Florida.
She received primary care training at the Medical Center of the Palm Beaches in West Palm Beach, and internal medicine training at the Malcom Randall VA Medical Center in Gainesville. She also received training as a patient care assistant on a hematology /oncology and post-lung transplant unit.
Jennifer holds certifications in Advanced Cardiac Life Support and Basic Life Support.
She lives in Palm Bay.
