Geriatric Psychiatry

Guido F. Nodal Jr. MD is Health First’s Medical Director for Senior Behavioral Wellness. The program offers inpatient and outpatient services for older adults struggling with mood or psychological conditions that interfere with the quality of life. The Senior Behavioral Wellness Inpatient Unit is located at Palm Bay Hospital and the Intensive Outpatient Program is located at 3661 South Babcock Street in Melbourne.

Dr. Nodal earned his Doctor of Medicine at the Universidad Central del Este in San Pedro de Macoris in the Dominican Republic. He completed his psychiatric residency at the University of South Florida College of Medicine in Tampa.

Dr. Nodal is a Diplomate of the American Board of Psychiatry and Neurology, with added qualifications in Addiction Psychiatry and Geriatric Psychiatry. He is also an Assistant Clinical Professor of Psychiatry for Florida State University’s College of Medicine.

Since 2014, he has worked as the Head of Consultation in Psychiatry Service in Vero Beach, FL. Before that, he served as the Medical Director of Psychiatry at Lower Keys Medical Center in Key West, FL. Dr. Nodal was in private practice in Miami for 20 years, serving as the Chairman of the Department of Psychiatry Palmetto General Hospital in Hialeah, FL. From 1989 to 1990, he was also the Medical Director at David Lawrence Center from in Naples, FL.

Dr. Nodal has received a U.S. Navy commendation for exemplary service as a medical volunteer at Guantanamo Naval Base. He has been recognized as one of the top physicians in the State of Florida by the U.S. News Castle and Connolly Guide.
