Jose Mejia, MD

General Surgery

Jose Mejia, MD, is Board-certified in General Surgery and a Fellow of the American College of Surgery. In addition to his General Surgery expertise, Dr. Mejia also has experience in the areas of endoscopy and laparoscopy. He is a graduate of University of Puerto Rico in San Juan PR, where he earned a Bachelor degree with honors in Biology. He completed Medical School at the Universidad Central del Caribe School of Medicine in Bayamon, PR. Dr. Mejia completed a one year Internship at Tulane University Medical Center in New Orleans, LA in the Internal Medicine Residency Program. He then attended Allegheny University Hospitals in Philadelphia, PA where he completed a Residency in General Surgery and a Fellowship in Surgical Critical Care in 1999.

After finishing his training, he joined a General and Vascular Surgery practice in Altoona, PA. After almost two years, he decided to move to Florida looking for better weather and to be closer to his family and his wife's family in Puerto Rico. After practicing in other cities, he joined Health First Medical Group in 2005 and decided to settle down in Brevard.

Dr. Mejia's scope of practice includes General, Laparoscopic and Breast Surgeries. Dr. Mejia speaks English and Spanish. Dr. Mejia has two children.
