Caroline Maina, MD

Hospitalist

A hospitalist is a provider who specializes in caring for patients while they are in the hospital. Hospitalists work closely with your primary care provider and frequently inform him or her of your condition.

When you require hospitalization, your provider or an Emergency Department physician will coordinate your admission with a hospitalist. The hospitalists are on site 24 hours a day and work closely with all hospital staff to coordinate your care.

Caroline Maina, MD is part of our Health First hospitalist team. She is a board certified physician.

Dr. Maina earned her Bachelor of Arts degree in Biochemistry from Earlham College in Richmond, IN. She earned a Doctor of Medicine and her Doctor of Philosophy, Microbiology and Immunology from Indiana University School of Medicine in Indianapolis, IN. She completed her internal medicine residency at Vanderbilt University in Nashville, TN and was an infectious disease fellow at the University of Florida in Gainesville, FL.

Before joining Health First Medical Group, Dr. Maina was a hospitalist at Flagler Hospital in St. Augustine, FL.

Dr. Maina has international medicine experience from working rotations in Kenya, Costa Rica and Guyana.
