Nancy Hernandez, MD
Dr. Nancy Hernandez is Board Certified in Internal Medicine. She earned her medical degree from Universidad El Bosque, Escuela Colombiana de Medicina in Bogota, Columbia, South America. Her residency in Internal Medicine was completed at Thomason Hospital at Texas Tech University Health Center in El Paso, TX. She earned her Bachelors of Science in Radiological Sciences from the University of Central Florida in Orlando, FL.
Dr. Hernandez works with Health First Medical Group as a Hospitalist with a special role in hospital diabetes management. She has done extensive research and training on the topic of diabetes and provides community lectures to help with awareness, prevention and care management of the disease. She has also completed a Diabetes Fellowship for Primary Care Providers and a Faculty Development Fellowship through the Brody School of Medicine at East Carolina University/Pitt County Memorial Hospital.
Dr. Hernandez also worked with the University of Colorado Health Science Center in Denver, CO as In-Patient Consult Service and Outpatient Clinic Rotation within Endocrinology. She also served as a Practice Assistant to the family practice of Armando O. Martinez, M.D. in Merritt Island, FL and as a Radiologic Technologist at Space Coast Orthopedic Center in Merritt Island.
Dr. Hernandez is fluent in English and Spanish. She has spent her time and medical talent volunteering on a mission trip to Juarez, Mexico with the Texas Tech University Christian Medical and Dental Association. She also worked with the diabetic indigent population at the Bernstein Community Center in Greenville, NC.
She is a member of the American College of Physicians, the Southern Medical Association and the Society of Hospital Medicine.
