Hospitalist

A hospitalist is a provider who specializes in caring for patients while they are in the hospital. Hospitalists work closely with your primary care provider and frequently inform him or her of your condition.

When you require hospitalization, your provider or an Emergency Department physician will coordinate your admission with a hospitalist. The hospitalists are on site 24 hours a day and work closely with all hospital staff to coordinate your care.

Samir Henry Faris, MD is part of our Health First hospitalist team. He is board certified by the American Board of Internal Medicine and the Board of Internal Medicine in Egypt. He is a member of the American Medical Association.

Dr. Faris earned his Bachelor of Medicine, Bachelor of Surgery and his Medical Degree as well as completed his internship at Assuit Faculty of Medicine in Egypt.

Before joining Health First, he served as a Hospitalist at Newton Memorial Hospital in NJ and as Hospitalist Locum at Kadlec Medical Center in Richland, VA. Dr. Faris also served as a resident in internal medicine at St. Joseph's Regional Medical Center in Paterson, NJ (Mount Sinai School of Medicine).

In Egypt, Dr. Faris was director of a suburban hospital in Qena where he also served as a family practice physician in the Mother and Child Care Unit. Dr. Faris also had a private practice. In addition to serving as director, family practice physician and having a private practice, Dr. Faris spent some time as a house physician at Military Hospital in Cairo.
