Marc Eugene, MD
A hospitalist is a provider who specializes in caring for patients while they are in the hospital. Hospitalists work closely with your primary care provider and frequently inform him or her of your condition.
When you require hospitalization, your provider or an Emergency Department physician will coordinate your admission with a hospitalist. The hospitalists are on site 24 hours a day and work closely with all hospital staff to coordinate your care.
Marc Elie Eugene, MD is part of our Health First hospitalist team. He is a board-certified Family Practice physician.
Dr. Eugene earned both his Bachelor of Arts and Bachelor of Science in Biology from Brooklyn College in Brooklyn, NY. After earning both this bachelors, he completed a Surgery Clerkship at Jamaica Hospital in Jamaica, NY. He then went on to earn his Medical degree from the Universidad de Valencia in Valencia, Spain. He completed residency training in Family Medicine at State University of New York (SUNY) in Buffalo, NY.
Dr. Eugene served in the United States Air Force Reserves, serving as a Flight Surgeon at Brooks Air Force Base in San Antonio, TX. He later served as a Medical Review Officer at MacDill Air Force Base in Florida. In 2003 Dr. Eugene was mobilized to Active Duty in support of Iraqi Freedom. He served as a Flight Surgeon for the 920th Aeromedical Staging Squadron (ASTS) at Patrick Air Force Base. He then served as a Family Practice physician and hospitalist for outpatient clinics in Central Florida.
In 2004 he was a Hospitalist for Florida Hospital East in Orlando. The following year he returned to Patrick Air Force Base, providing Family Practice care to military personnel. From 2008 to 2012 Dr. Eugene served as an Active Duty Flight Surgeon, as well as Chief of Aerospace Medicine, at MacDill Air Force Base for the 927th Air Refueling Wing. In 2010 he was promoted to Lieutenant Colonel. Before joining Health First, Dr. Eugene served as a Nocturnist/Hospitalist at Orlando Health.
Dr. Eugene earned many awards during his military service, including the National Defense Service Medal, the Joint Meritorious Unit Award, the Air Force Achievement Medal, the 494 AEG Warrior of the Week, the Expeditionary Contingency Squadron Certificate of Appreciation and the 2006 Outstanding Service Award from Patrick Air Force Base. He also was the recipient of the Honduras Relief Effort Appreciation Award.
Dr. Eugene speaks and writes French and Spanish.
