Sean Claeys, DO
A hospitalist is a provider who specializes in caring for patients while they are in the hospital. Hospitalists work closely with your primary care provider and frequently inform him or her of your condition.
When you require hospitalization, your provider or an Emergency Department physician will coordinate your admission with a hospitalist. The hospitalists are on site 24 hours a day and work closely with all hospital staff to coordinate your care.
Sean Claeys, DO is part of our Health First hospitalist team. He is board certified by the American Osteopathic Board of Internal Medicine.
Dr. Claeys earned his Doctor of Osteopathic Medicine from the Philadelphia College of Osteopathic Medicine. His Bachelor of Science in Molecular and Microbiology, Psychology and Liberal Arts was earned at the University of Central Florida in Orlando, FL. His Internal Medicine Internship and Residency in Primary and Hospitalist Medicine was completed with Sun Coast Hospital in Largo, FL.
Before joining Health First, Dr. Cleays was with Hospital Physician Partners at Wuesthoff Medical Center in Rockledge, FL. He has also served as a Hospitalist with New Hanover Regional Medical Center in Wilmington, NC and Carteret General Hospital in Morehead City, NC. Dr. Claeys has also worked as a Hospitalist in hospitals across the United States in South Dakota, Alaska, Hawaii and Maine.
Dr. Cleays is a member of the American College of Osteopathic Internists and the American Osteopathic Association. He has dedicated his time and medical talent as a volunteer on medical missions to Banda Aceh, Indonesia and Tegucigalpita, Honduras. He has also spent time as a volunteer at the Saint Pete Free Clinic and the Chance Hepatitis Clinic, both in St. Petersburg, FL. Additionally, he volunteered with Hospice of Volusia/Flagler in New Smyrna, FL.
