Angela Candelaria, MD
A hospitalist is a provider who specializes in caring for patients while they are in the hospital. Hospitalists work closely with your primary care provider and frequently inform him or her of your condition.
When you require hospitalization, your provider or an Emergency Department physician will coordinate your admission with a hospitalist. The hospitalists are on site 24 hours a day and work closely with all hospital staff to coordinate your care.
Angela Candelaria, MD is part of our Health First hospitalist team. She is board certified in internal medicine.
Dr. Candelaria earned her Doctor of Medicine from SABA University School of Medicine, SABA Netherlands Antilles. She earned her Bachelor of Science degrees in Physician Assistant at Drexel University in Philadelphia, PA and Liberal Arts at Regents College of New York, New York. Dr. Candelaria earned her Associate of Science in Medical Laboratory Technology at Indian River State College in Ft. Pierce, FL. She also completed an Internal Medicine Residency in Bridgeport, CT at Bridgeport Hospital as part of the Yale University program.
Dr. Candelaria has experience in the field as a Physician Assistant and Teaching Assistant in the Hyperbaric Research Lab in the Internal Medicine Office at SABA University School of Medicine San Antonio, TX. She has also worked as Immunohematology Medical Technologist at Life South in Gainesville, FL and Medical Technologist at Martin Memorial Health Systems, Stuart, FL. Prior to that, Dr. Candelaria works as a Medical Technologist at Columbia Raulerson Hospital, Okeechobee, FL.
Dr. Candelaria is certified in Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS) and Basic Life Support (BLS). She is also certified through the Educational Council for Foreign Medical Graduates (ECFMG). Additionally, Dr. Candelaria is certified in USMLE Steps 1, 2, and 3, NPI Provider Number, and is registered with the CT Controlled Substance Registration.
A member of the American College of Physicians and American Medical Association, Dr. Candelaria is an active member in the field of medicine. She completed a Quality Improvement Project, Hypoglycemia in DM: The Importance for Standards of Care Hospitalized Patients, at the Diabetes Management Quality Group at YNHH Bridgeport Hospital, CT. She has also completed presentations featuring Palliative Care, Pulmonary Tuberculosis, Treatment of Hospitalized Sickle Cell Patients, Antiphospholipid Syndrome, Complicated UTI, Pericarditis, Pheochromocytoma, and Cardiomyopathy in the Setting of Thyrotoxicosis.
