Robert Blease, MD
Robert E. Blease, MD, is a Board-certified Orthopedic Surgeon serving trauma patients at Health First Holmes Regional Medical Center as a member of the Health First Medical Group. Dr. Blease has extensive medical military training and education. In 1985 he completed Basic Combat Training. In 1990 he completed Basic Airborne Training. In 1991 Dr. Blease completed Special Forces Qualification Course - Medical NCO Specialty. He served as a Special Forces Medic from 1991 to 1995.
After completing his Bachelor of Science degree in Biochemistry and Chemistry from Colorado State University in Ft. Collins, CO, he earned his Doctorate of Medicine from the Uniformed Services University of the Health Sciences in Bethesda, MD. He then completed both an orthopedic surgical internship and orthopedic surgical residency at the William Beaumont Army Medical Center in Ft. Bliss, TX. Dr. Blease then completed an orthopedic trauma fellowship from the University of Tennessee School of Medicine - Chattanooga Unit.
Dr. Blease began his orthopedic surgical career at General Leonard Wood Army Community Hospital in Ft. Leonard Wood, MO. There he served as Orthopedic Staff Surgeon and Department Chief. He then served as Orthopedic Surgeon at Hamilton Medical Center/Associates in Sports Medicine in Dalton, GA. In 2007 Dr. Blease was stationed for three years at the Army Base in Ft. Bragg, NC, where he was an Orthopedic Trauma Surgeon at the Womack Army Medical Center. During his tour of duty, he served as Commander/Orthopedic Surgeon for the 274th Forward Surgical Team. The 274th Forward Surgical Team (FST) was the first FST deployed to Bagram Airfield, Afghanistan, to provide surgical care for combat casualties during the initial phases of Operation Enduring Freedom.
In 2010 Dr. Blease was stationed in Miami, where he served as Orthopedic Trauma Surgeon, Training Instructor and Assistant Director at the Jackson Memorial Medical Center/Army Trauma Training Center.
Dr. Blease has earned numerous awards and decorations, including the Army Superior Unit Award (Haiti), NATO Medal (Afghanistan), Overseas Service Ribbon, National Defense Medal, Afghan Campaign Medal, Iraq Campaign Medal, Good Conduct Medal, Meritorious Service Medal, Special Forces Tab, and Bronze Star Medal.
