What is Home Companions?
Simply put, Health First Home Companions stands for reliable, compassionate care. Sometimes just a little bit of extra care can make all the difference. We can help you remain in the comfort of your home and improve your quality of life. Our caregivers are insured and bonded, undergo medical screening, drug testing, extensive reference checks, and a national background check. We employ only the most dependable, compassionate, and reliable staff to ensure your safety and comfort.
Our team consists of all Health First employees -who are not outside contractors. This means no legal hassles since our workers are fully covered by Health First for Worker's Compensation insurance and other employment issues such as taxes and payroll. Additionally, we ensure the security and safety of our clients, with full background checks on all our employees including fingerprinting, national background checks, drug screening, physical examinations, as well as Driver's License and reference checks.
We're happy to help you determine if the services you need are covered as a benefit by your medical insurance and to file claims or provide any necessary documentation required by you or your insurance company. Our services are also available on an hourly, private-pay basis with no weekly or monthly minimum required.
Our friendly and professional staff will be happy to sit down with you and help you decide exactly what services you or your loved one may need. By meeting with you personally and getting to know you, we can make the best possible match for you or your loved one. We work hard to carefully match your individual needs with compatible caregivers according to interests, temperament, and the level of support you need.
There are some basic differences between Home Care, Private Duty Nursing, and Hospice. The biggest difference is that Home Care is typically short-term care for transitioning patients from hospital to home. Private Duty Nursing is a longer-term commitment for those needing more consistent, daily care. Hospice provides care for those diagnosed with a terminal illness.

"Anna is a very caring and conscientious person. Although her main focus was for our mother, her compassion for me (her daughter) during this very hard time was above what one would expect from someone outside our family. She is a "keeper"!"
"Thank you for taking such good care of my friend and neighbor. I just couldn't do it myself any more. You helped me to grant his wish of living out his final year in his own home."
"When I discovered I could not drive any more - I needed someone to take me to all of my medical appointments. Mary drove me to not only my doctor visits, but anywhere else I wanted to go. She was professional and I enjoyed her and getting out of the house."
Health First Home Companions is proud to provide a team of professionals who are trained to exceed the needs of our clients. In our initial consultation, we match the needs of our clients with our team and are always happy to see the relationships grow throughout the years.
