The Health First Pro-Health & Fitness Center on Merritt Island is offering Basic Water Rescue on Saturday, September 8, from 9 am to 1 pm. Cost for the course is $30 per individual and $50 per family members in the same household. Pre-registration is required.
"We recommend this course for all individuals with children, grandchildren, or those who have a pool or body of water near your home," said Sue Hall, aquatic instructor. "This is a required course for foster families who have pools."
Basic Water Rescue, a designated American Red Cross Health & Safety Course, teaches participants how to recognize, respond to and prevent aquatic emergencies, how to recognize and eliminate hazards associated with swimming pools, how to recognize characteristics of those in need of help, how to perform self-rescue skills for aquatic emergencies, and provide assistance to others using non-swimming rescues.
For registration, call 321-434-5801, or register at the front desk at Health First Pro-Health & Fitness, 255 Borman Drive, Merritt Island.
For more information about the course, contact Sue Hall at 434-5816 or email her at susan.hall@health-first.org.
