ROCKLEDGE, FL - Nearly 1,000 children representing Viera/Suntree Little League and Viera High School Varsity & JV baseball teams, their parents, members of the Major League Baseball team the Washington Nationals, Little League officials, and the new leadership of Health First's Viera Hospital (scheduled to open in 2011) will dedicate the new "Viera Hospital Field" during a special opening ceremony on Saturday, March 6, 9:30am.
The field, which has undergone a major renovation including the construction of new dug-outs will be officially dedicated as nearly 1,000 Little League players who will use the field crowd around home plate to watch the ceremonial first pitch.
Improvements were funded by Health First's Viera Hospital, which is scheduled to open next year. Viera Hospital President Chris Kennedy will throw out the opening pitch. "We're excited about being able to provide these Little Leaguers with a brand-new field on which to play," said Kennedy. "We may not be opening our hospital doors until next year, but being good community neighbors here in Viera doesn't have to wait until then."
Upon completion, Viera Hospital will be a 100-bed, acute-care, not-for-profit hospital that offers residents in the Viera/Suntree vicinity a comprehensive range of healthcare services.
