3rd Annual "Arts in Medicine" Showcase goes "to the dogs!"

Come out and meet the 'Hounds of Hospice' therapy dog teams!

ROCKLEDGE, FL - From using 'live' music and massage therapy at the bedside, to 'Hounds of Hospice' therapy dogs to reduce stress, the arts have emerged as an effective tool for healthcare professionals to promote the comfort and relaxation of patients, caregivers, and family members.

Since an Arts in Medicine Program was first brought to Health First hospitals, Hospice of Health First has witnessed the impact on patients and families, and now incorporates art into its programs as well.

To showcase the various aspects of how art can be an integral part of hospice services, Hospice of Health First is hosting the third annual "Arts in Medicine Showcase" on Saturday, April 23, from 10 am to 2 pm at The Avenue, Viera. Take I-95 to exit 191 (Wickham Road). Turn west onto Wickham Road. At the traffic circle just past Wal Mart, bear right onto Lake Andrew Drive. The Avenue, Viera shopping center is 1/2 mile on the right. This special event is free and open to the public.

The Arts in Medicine Showcase will offer participants information on how the arts are being used in Hospice of Health First's programs through exhibits, speakers, and interactive activities. Some of the Arts in Medicine offerings featured include five 'live' music concerts, massage demonstrations, gardening and herbal therapies, as well as visits by certified therapy dogs and their trainers. There will also be take-home, hand-made art for children.
