Day of activities and sharing is a healthy outlet for children dealing with a loss
Hospice of Health First and the Bright Star Center for Grieving Children & Families will host Camp Bright Star on Saturday, October 27, from 9:00 am to 3:30 pm at Gleason Park in Indian Harbour Beach. The bereavement day camp, which is offered twice a year, offers a day of arts, crafts, music, and informal sharing sessions for children who have experienced the loss of a parent or loved one.
Registration and fees are required before the day of camp. No walk-ins will be accepted.
Death can be a traumatizing experience for children and their surviving parents. Camp Bright Star offers families a fun-filled day of projects, activities, and the chance to speak with bereavement counselors, registered nurses, and Bright Star Center volunteers about death, grieving, and the pain and anger children experience.
Camp Bright Star is for children ages five to 12. The cost is $5 per child and $10 for two or more children in the same family. Lunch is provided; scholarships are available for families in need of financial help. For more information or to register, call the Bright Star Center at (321) 733-7672, or (321) 952-0494. Pre-registration is required by October 12, 2007.
The Bright Star Center for Grieving Children & Families is a program of Hospice of Health First. It is located at 300 East New Haven Ave. in Melbourne.
