Cape Canaveral Hospital's Resource Center in the Medical Plaza serves as a center for health information to the community. There is a library, where you can borrow books on a variety of health topics. We can also help you search the web for health issue topics and download them for your reference. The center houses a medical library for professional staff and students, along with community rooms that can be scheduled for speakers and support groups.
Open weekdays from 8 am to 4:30 pm, the center's staff is available to help those who come in to check resources, ask questions or seek guidance to find reliable health information on the Internet or elsewhere. Some patrons like to do their own research on computers in the center and just need help with the searching function. If you request specific information, it is usually available for pick up within 48 hours.
You can call the Resource Center to find out about support groups that meet at CCH, or check the online calendar. We have classes for patients having joint replacement surgery, and childbirth and parenting classes are also offered several times during the year.
The newest addition to the center is an outpatient diabetes self-management program approved by the American Diabetes Association and run by a Certified Diabetes Educator. The program is part of Health First Diabetes Center and offers one-on-one evaluations (with a doctor's referral) along with Staying Well and Eating Well classes. Additional classes are offered as needed and can be tailored to specific patient needs. For more information or to schedule an appointment, call Health First Diabetes Center at 434-1985.
You can reach the CCH Resource Center at 868-2701 for information on health-related issues and class scheduling (other than diabetes classes). Stop in and visit the next time you're at the hospital.
