Health First Health Plans announces first state-wide expansion
What began as a local health plan goes statewide for the first time
ROCKLEDGE, FL (November 8, 2011)—It began in 1996 as a local, community-based alternative to out-of-state insurance mega-giants, but now it is venturing out beyond the Space Coast for the first time.
In what has become a real Space Coast business success story, Health First Health Plans (HFHP), which prides itself on its reputation for being community oriented and 100% dedicated to serving the specific needs of Floridians, is now able to offer two stand-alone prescription drug (PDP) plans from the Panhandle to the Keys.
This is the first time HFHP has branched out beyond Brevard County and its surrounding communities. Now any Floridian with original Medicare can choose a PDP from Health First Health Plans. The Essential (PDP) Plan features a low monthly plan premium and deductible, and a comprehensive selection of Part D prescription drugs. The Prime (PDP) Plan features a wider selection of covered drugs, NO deductible, and coverage in the gap for Tier 1 generic drugs.
Although these PDP plans are too new to be rated yet, HFHP has a proven track record of providing superior quality, value and service:
- HFHP received a 2012 Overall Plan Rating of 4.5 stars out of 5 from the Centers for Medicare & Medicaid Services on www.medicare.gov. Plan performance summary star ratings are assessed each year and may change from one year to the next.
- HFHP ranked #22 among Medicare Advantage Plans by the National Committee for Quality Assurance (NCQA) Medicare Health Insurance Plan Rankings, 2011-2012. All rankings are displayed online at www.ncqa.org. NCQA is a private, nonprofit organization dedicated to improving health care quality.
“Our goal is to provide the same outstanding quality and service for our new PDP plan members that have earned us the distinction of being one of the highest-rated Medicare Advantage plans in the nation,” said Jim Beermann, vice president of sales and marketing at HFHP. He added, “Our members know that when they call us, they are talking to someone who is here in Florida, not in some distant call center on the other side of the country or the other side of the planet, and now we’re going to spread our wings a little bit and offer that same personal customer care to other Floridians.”
