Medicare Advantage (MA) plans are offered by companies that contract with the federal government to manage your benefits. Medicare Advantage plans include all of the benefits that come with Part A and Part B, and some also include Part D. Medicare Advantage plans that include Part D are also called Medicare Advantage Prescription Drug plans (MA-PD). Sometimes Medicare Advantage plans are referred to as Part C plans.
Most Medicare Advantage plans also include extra benefits and services that Original Medicare doesn't offer, like fitness center memberships, worldwide emergency care, financial protection against unlimited medical expenses, health and wellness programs, nurse advice over the phone, and programs to measure clinical and customer service quality.
Medicare Advantage plans are different from Medicare "supplements" or Medigap plans because Medicare Advantage plans replace your original Medicare coverage, handling all of your claims on your behalf. Medicare supplement plans work with original Medicare. With supplement plans, your provider will bill original Medicare, and your supplement plan will help pay for some or all of your deductibles that original Medicare would normally bill you for.
To enroll in a Medicare Advantage plan you must meet all three requirements:
We offer two types of seminars to help you understand your options.
If you've just started considering your Medicare options, please attend the ABCD's of Original Medicare seminar. You'll learn the differences between Medicare parts A, B, C and D, and a little about the plans Health First Health Plans offers.
If you understand the basics of Medicare and are getting closer to enrollment, our Medicare Advantage Plan seminar is for you. Learn about the additional benefits our Medicare Advantage Plans have to offer and decide if our plans are right for you.
